Basic Septic Tank Operational Diagram

Basic Septic Tank Operational Diagram

How it works...

All waste from the household flows into the tank through the inlet pipe. Inside the tank, traffic floats to the top and forms a crust at water level. As the traffic breaks down, the water moves through the tank and exits via the outlet pipe to the field and seeps in to the ground.

How it works...

Grey water enters the tank through the inlet pipe. Grease/fat floats to the top, leaving any solids to settle at the bottom. The center baffle walls slow the process and ensure most of the grease and solids are retained inside the chambers.

How it works...

Grey water enters the tank through the inlet pipe and flows through the internal chambers. These chambers create a filtration process, with the bulk of the solids settling in the first chamber while water passes through and exits via the outlet pipe.
